Let’s talk about recycling ♻️ Perhaps in a way you’ve never considered.

When I first auditioned for the role of “Baby” in Dirty Dancing, I didn’t get the role and I was heartbroken. I had become very attached to it throughout the audition process and to let her go felt like a breakup of sorts.

Months later, my agent called to say they were reconsidering me and wanted to see me again. This time, when the auditions were over, I took the precious script I had been working with for many months, and I let it go into the first recycling bin I saw outside the studio.

Energetically, it felt like I was cutting the cord to the deep attachment I had towards the role and story at large. It was an act of faith that if this opportunity was for my highest good, it would come back to me. And that if it wasn’t, Life was taking care of me.

Recycling the script was important because I knew all of those pages hadn’t been wasted…they would be turned into something new.

Is there something in your life right now that you are clinging to? Perhaps it’s a relationship, a potential client, or that role you really, really want! What would it feel like to “recycle” it? To simply put it down, trusting that the energy and time you’ve put into it is already being created into something new, and that whatever is for your highest good will unfold.

Try it. Take a deep breath. Thank the “thing”. Then let it go. Recycle it.

Life seemed to wink at me when the very first thing I received from Dirty Dancing was a script with my name on it 🩷 (scroll to see the photo)

Trust Life, friends. I truly believe everything is always working out for us, even when our prayers aren’t answered in the way we had hoped. If we can learn to “love what is”, as Byron Katie says, we begin to see that Life has got us. And only always.

Have a great week!

With Love,

Gillian
